A landmark picture day

Sally just gave me her picture. I now have every last townie picture (except for the most of the monkeys). I have every other picture, except for the town hall ladies. I might get Pelly someday, but there's no way I'm playing up to a billion bells to get Phyllis!

LiveJournal Major Notes: Security, Mobile, Facebook, Writer's Block, and Notes

Tweaks and enhancements

  1. In order to improve site security, we've temporarily suspended the ability to change passwords for old email addresses that haven't been used for over six months. For further information and support, please visit our customer care page.
  2. We've launched a new mobile site with an enhanced UI at m.livejournal.com. View spotlights, post to your journal, read and post to friends pages, and more, no matter where you roam! Please let us know what you think, since this will eventually replace our existing mobile interface. You can update your mobile preferences on your account page.
  3. We've upgraded from Beacon to Facebook Connect to improve dual posting. If you've already signed up for Facebook Beacon, you're good to go. If you wish to update your Facebook Connect setting, visit Account Privacy settings and scroll down to the option labeled: "Send information about my updates to Facebook." You can choose Always or Ask each time. Remember to save (on the bottom left corner of the page). To learn more, check out FAQ 249. While we're on the subject, if you happen to be visiting that side of town, please join our Facebook fan page for a touch of home away from home.
  4. You'll now receive the Writer's Block Question of the Day in the body of email notifications. To sign up for Writer's Block notifications, visit [info]writersblock and choose the Watch Community option. Next, update your Writer's Block notification settings by checking the box to the right of "Someone posts a new entry to writersblock."
  5. Paid and permanent users can now view, add, and edit Notes of commenters. Notes will appear beside the username of comment posters (instead of stars) on S1-themed comment pages.

Send some lovin' thanks to your friends with our holiday vgifts!

Photos of the week

We're so delighted with the immense talent of our growing, global [info]lj_photophile community that we've decided to introduce a poll. Each week, we'll choose a half-dozen photos (based on user comments and staff feedback) and ask you to select a photo of the week. The winning photo will be announced in the next newsletter. If possible, please limit photo size to 350x350 to ensure that images display properly on friends pages. We want to thank you again (and again!) for sharing your passion.

Check out this week's photo poll and more fantastic user content after the jump!

OMG I stayed up and wrote until 6 am, had ONE hour of sleep, was still half asleep in the shower and left shampoo in my hair, zombiewalked myself to class only to find out that while I was in Mexico, they decided to push the deadline to Thursday. I have repeatedly fallen asleep in inappropriate places all day for no use. FML.

Since I'm hungover (yesterday included ca. 1000 cowboys, dancing to country music, falling asleep at the toilet of the bar, understanding that I had to go home because I was so drunk AND drinking a raw egg to prove I was cool) and in bed anyway, I'm posting some Mexico pictures!

It's been a week, so this won't be a detailed post, I just figured I'd let the pictures tell the story.

I've posted here before, but my journal has been a bit neglected and I need to revive it. New friends are good for that, I think.

A few things about me:

- I'm 26.
- I go to school full-time, but I graduate next winter.
- My first-choice med school is in Cuba.
- I read a lot (3 - 5 books per week).
- My favorite show is Stargate, and I'm crushed that it's not on anymore.
- I like to watch birds, and/or people.
- I'm inappropriately enthusiastic about infectious disease sometimes.
- I'm married to a girl who is my complete opposite, which can be an interesting combination sometimes. We've been married almost 3 years.
- I post a lot of random things and, lately, a fair amount of photos.

Please add me.

LiveJournal Major Notes: Postcard winners, Tweaks, LJ_Cares

Postcard winners!

We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude for sending so much joy our way. Frank is still blushing with excitement over the love notes, proposals, propositions, and occasional intimate photos sent from his admirers around the world (China, Norway, Japan, and Poland just this week)! At his request, we blindfolded Justin, one of Frank's BFFs, spun him around in five dozen counterclockwise circles, and asked him to point to ten random postcards/envelopes pasted to the wall. After a brief trip to the bathroom, he chose the following lucky winners, to whom we will give a six-month paid account token (for paid, basic, and plus users) or, for our permanent account holders, a $15 voucher for the LiveJournal gift shop.

So, without further ado, the winners are:

  1. [info]seraphene
  2. [info]fotog
  3. [info]boykitten
  4. [info]seshat_6
  5. [info]anti_aol
  6. [info]lisalees
  7. [info]katrinkacat
  8. [info]mistyboston
  9. [info]_woody_lein
  10. [info]another_slender

Bugs, Tweaks, and Enhancements

  1. We fixed a bug from the last release that was causing screened comments to become unscreened if they were edited
  2. If you happen to be gaming around the corner, check us out on Facebook and be sure to spread the word!
  3. We've added new vgifts to celebrate Thanksgiving! Check out our feathered friend, below!

Give more with charitable vgifts

In honor of national adoption month, we're offering a charitable vgift (priced at $2.99) to support Love Without Boundaries, an organization that provides healthcare and adoption to orphans suffering from life-threatening diseases. LiveJournal will donate 100% of gross proceeds from the sale (we'll cover the cost of credit card transaction fees). To learn more about Love Without Boundaries, please visit [info]lj_cares. You can purchase your Love Without Boundaries vgifts in the Virtual Gift shop. We'll keep you posted on how much we raise!

Photos of the week

We're delighted to showcase yet more incredible photos from some of our brilliant LiveJournal photographers around the world. Keep posting (and tagging). And be sure to show some love by commenting on the awesome view at [info]lj_photophile.

Check out this week's photos and more amazing user content after the jump!

I was planning to post some pictures from Mexico, but facebook got in the way, and now I have to go to evening class. I will later!

AND! While I was in Mexico I got stung by a stingray but I didn't think it was a big deal (and even poured beer on it) but yesterday my foot started swelling and was grotesquely big and red and itchy so I went to the doctor today and got a tetanus shot and antibiotics. I survived a stingray and I am oficcially cooler that Steve Irwin.

Just some housekeeping in Bentley!..

I am in the process of catching up in Bentley. I wasn't able to play it for three months... I'm finishing up September now. :0 It's a bummer since I wanted to have a wifi party for Bentley's first anniversary (November 6) but wasn't able to since the town was on lockdown. :\

BUT the catch-up is going really well. I've done almost nothing else the past three days and it's showing. Hopefully in a week B-town will be ready to have open gates again! I just need to clean up my roster. I know it's been really quiet here lately, but I've been dying to visit towns and have people come over. I'm going to have a bunch of freebies, like fossils and furniture and hybrid flowers.

So my roster's under the cut. If you've changed your information since July, please let me know so I can update it. Also, if your name's not italicized and you want to stay on, please comment, otherwise I will probably delete you.

Roster... COMMENT IF YOU WANT TO STAY ON THE ROSTER. )

... Oh, and I am curious: those of you who used to have open gates often, why don't you anymore? No time? No one else wifi-ing? My town was on lockdown and I got all antsy the few times in the past couple months I saw a call for open gates! D:
I just ask because if no one has time, I might not open my gates much. :\

well hello there prospective friend.

*waves*

My name is Enrique, but go by the name Kique (Key Keh).
I'm 20 years old and an English major minoring in Creative Writing and Education.
I'm a 2nd generation Mexican-American/Hispanic from Laredo, Texas.
I currently live in Huntsville, Texas with a long-term boyfriend.
I am male and very much homosexual.
I fancy myself to be a politiqueer.
What is that you ask?
Its a made up term for a politically aware homosexual; which, basically describes me :).
While I don't talk about politics very much in my lj, I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative/socialist (I know it doesn't make sense).
I am not an Obamatard.
What is that you ask?
I don't love him blindly, nor do I support him blindly.
I agree with some things he does and disagree with some things that he does, but I am a not a gun totting idiot running around hoping I can get a shot at him, or the opposite of that which is some angry psuedo-socialist saying he's the second coming etc.
I am not a god fearing person.
I try to be civil about religious folks, but sometimes I can't help but have Nietzsche's ideology in my head that I must wash my hands after I encounter them.
I may rant in my lj about the crazy evangelicals and southern baptists I encounter in this little town.

What else... Oh!

I am a native Texan, by birth and financial situation (NOT BY CHOICE). I'm not exactly fond of this state unless I'm in the hip Austin part.
I enjoy all types of music, feel free to scroll through my lj and you can basically see that I'm somewhat eclectic when it comes to my music taste.
I love films (mostly foreign and indie).
I love art (all kinds).
I am quite the caffeine enthusiast.
I am a former drug addict (mostly heroin).
On that note, I rarely talk about my past with drugs, but that doesn't mean I'm not open about it.
I'm somewhat sarcastic.
I'm somewhat existential.
I somewhat identify with the Buddhist philosophy along with Humanist philosophies.

And I'm most likely the one that will change your life without actually being there in person.
Oh, and I can always bring a smile to someone's face.

And of course, the obligatory picture.

In the event that you want to add me, please leave a comment with a brief description of yourself.
Thanks :).

I'm back! And exhausted and I'm going to tell you guys all about Mexico and post pictures and everything after I've finished my English assignment that is due tomorrow morning and I'm probably going to have to stay up all night or something but I've got some kind of hideous Monster energy drink and I know I'm going to make it, eventually.

In the meantime, have a picture of French boy and a Mexican playing with a real, wild crocodile that we met.
